Yesterday, it was my first time to attend the MPA (Master Photographers Association) Awards Dinner in Hilton, Newcastle. I was very excited a night before as it is such a prestigious event. I feel like I was attending the Oscar UK Photography award dinner. During the ceremony, I had an opportunity to meet up with other talented photographers such as Jingna Zhang from Singapore, a fashion photographer from Zemotion, Ukay of Ukayphotography, and Stephen Loh, a Wedding Photographer from Singapore. It was such an enjoyable night.
Regarding the awards ceremony, I know that I was up against many other extremely talented photographers in the whole of UK. It was already my honour to have 2 of my prints in the top 20 finalists in the Kodak Award, out of over 2000+ entries submitted this year. When they announced the winner of the Kodak Wedding Photographer of the Year, I almost could not believe it when I heard my name being announced. The laser light beamed onto me as I walked onto the stage to receive my award. I was so excited that I did not turn around to see which photograph was the one that won me the award. I was surprised and deeply humbled to be awarded the Kodak Wedding Photographer of the Year 2009. I wished that Shirley and my boy were there with me to share my joy. I especially want to dedicate this award to them. Without their motivation and support, I don’t think I can achieve this.
Two of my other prints were also selected as the finalists in the MPA UK Open Awards, congratulations to Lynsey Thomson for winning this award.

I wasn’t able to take that photo myself. My other photographer friend helped me take the picture when I was given the award on stage… still waiting for his reply. I think the official photographer also took some photos as well..
