Michelle & Alex – Pre-wedding in Newcastle, England

Alex and Michelle from Hong Kong wanted to photograph their pre-wedding in Europe, and they asked me for my personal view on a good pre-wedding location.  I instantly thought about my second home… Newcastle.

Having lived here for 4 years, I have grown to love Newcastle and its friendly local people, known as the “Geordies”.   With some spectacular night scenes, including the bridges of Newcastle (around 11 of them across River Tyne!), the historic castles and cathedrals that were used in Harry Potter films, the coastline with the unique St. Mary’s Island (separated from the  mainland by a little pathway),  and the Newcastle Central Train Station – one of the oldest train station in Europe.  Newcastle is indeed very special and in my opinion, is one of the world’s most beautiful cities.  The beauty of Newcastle is nicely preserved by not being a typical “tourist” city, which makes it an even better & private pre-wedding location.

I’d like to share my love for this with you all through these photographs below.   I hope that they can highlight the wonderful Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Alex and Michelle, you’ve been such a great, caring and co-operative couple to work with.  Thank you so much for coming to Newcastle, and for the e-mail you left me before leaving.  I am touched by your thoughts and hope you like these photos.

At Alnwick Castle – where the “flying lessons” scene in Harry Potter was filmed!

I love this shot.  This couple is obviously very much in love.  Michelle looking beautiful in her Louis Vuitton dress.  I was told that this same design was also worn by Zhang ZiYi (actress from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) in a Hong Kong movie-award event.
